It is important that you and your child visit several times before starting at the centre. It is important for you and your child to feel comfortable with the teachers, daily routines and new surroundings.
Your child will take their cues from you, if you are confident they will learn to be confident too. Each child settles differently it may take days, weeks or months. We ususally give it a standard 6 months for families to feel completely settled.
If your child is distressed when you leave, hand your child to a teacher, say goodbye and leave – don’t linger as it only makes it worse. You are more than welcome to telephone the centre at any time to check on your child.
As communication between staff and parents is vital for the well being of the children and for the success of our programs please don’t hesitate to discuss any areas of concerns or to ask any questions you may have.
